What is the best gift you can give yourself as we approach this holiday season and Christmas?

This inability to take the time to care for yourself is a common scenario I see in my practice on a daily basis.

You can add hormones to your system to try and get the balance right, but you also need to do some things to improve your overall health. If you don’t do these things, you will not be able to fix the imbalance completely.

There is a way to get to the root of this imbalance. There are different things you can do to get your balance back and feel more vibrant. Whether you take hormone replacement therapy or not, it is important to learn how to take care of yourself so you can feel better. It is crucial to do this even if you are busy with your job, career, family, social life, and everything in between. 

A gift from YOU to YOU 

This is a time of year during the holiday season when it gets crazy, and often our hormone symptoms can get pretty crazy with it. One of the reasons we have more hormonal symptoms is that our bodies are not able to keep up with the demands we put on them. Hormone replacement therapy is typically not going to be enough to overcome it. In some cases, it may not help.

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to take some time to relax. This means taking care of yourself and doing things that make you happy. When you do this, you are giving yourself a gift that is just as important as any other present.

You don’t enjoy your life. You’re snappy with your partner, kids, and loved ones, and you can’t get out and do the things you enjoy. You feel too crummy, too tired, and too sluggish all the time. Again, hormones alone can’t fix this.

You’re also less likely to develop a chronic disease in the future.

We know stress is one of the main reasons people develop cardiometabolic conditions. Stress can even lead to the development of things like cancer. It is important to note, however, that stress is not the only thing that causes these problems. There are other factors at play, which stress can certainly aggravate and trigger in our bodies.

We need to be very mindful of this, and we need to sometimes pull the plug on all that busyness.

Be reminded that the number one gift you can give yourself as you move towards and into the holiday season, especially around Christmas time, is the gift of time and the gift of taking care of yourself.
